The open-positions information in the Freedom Securities Trading Inc. (Freedom Finance Belize) report does not contain the position opening date or lot sizes. This makes it impossible to build a tax declaration based on a report covering a single tax year. The lots closed in each specific trade can only be determined by analyzing the trade history. Therefore, calculating a tax declaration for Freedom Finance requires information covering the entire trading history, starting from the moment the account was opened. This can be achieved in one of two ways:
- By uploading to RoboTaxMaker the FF reports in Excel format for the entire period from the opening of the brokerage account to the end of the reporting period.
- By uploading to RoboTaxMaker the FF report in Excel format for the reporting period + the list of open positions as of the beginning of the reporting period in RoboTaxMaker format (Excel).
Declaration generation workflow for Freedom Finance
The second method requires a more detailed explanation. For example, the account was opened in 2018, but the declaration is being filed for 2020. You need to upload to RoboTaxMaker the report for 2018 (from the account opening to the end of the year) + the reports for 2019 and 2020 and generate the tax declaration file (in one format or another), as well as the “RoboTaxMaker (Universal format in Excel)” format (More about the universal format).
The following year, the resulting file in RoboTaxMaker format is uploaded together with the report for 2021. In turn, based on these input data, you can obtain the tax declaration file + trades and positions in RoboTaxMaker format for the 2021 year-end, which can then be used as source data to obtain the tax declaration for 2022 (together with the broker’s report for that period), and so on.
Instructions for obtaining the report in PDF format
This report must be attached as a supporting document when filing your tax declaration at agenciatributaria.gob.es. Using it for automatic processing in RoboTaxMaker will result in an error.
1. Launch the Tradernet application.
2. Open the “Menu” and select “Brokerage reports”.
3. Select the period you are interested in and enter your email address in the “Send report by email” field to receive the report in your mailbox.
4. Then click the “Create report” button.
